I was visiting popular citizen journalism website STOMP when I noticed a strange traffic source coming from the page. I checked the source and couldn’t find the traffic source (it’s a Firefox quirk I guess), instead I found an Easter Egg.
Apparently a web developer at STOMP has a sense of humour, because I found the Konami Code installed in the page. The Konami Code is a classical video input cheat that was made famous by game developer Konami during the NES days in the 80s.
The code is: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start
For websites, replace Start with Enter.
It doesn’t do anything. It is just a cool nod to Konami and the 8-bit era of video gaming. Go visit the site and check it out. Remember to wait for the page to load fully.
