The 9th International Guitar Festival 2011 (Singapore) is taking place from 13-19th June! Catch renown artistes and guitar personalities in concerts, masterclasses and seminars. Be sure to catch the international guitar competition too, and watch guitarists play it out for prizes and top honors.
This year’s event features an all female line-up of performers. It’s about time I’d say. I hope this gives a boost to local female classical guitarists while providing them more opportunities to participate in masterclasses, performances and seminars by prominent female guitarists.
Tickets are available from sistic here.
Most of the performances will take place at RELC International Hotel from 13 – 19 June. I have not received any information on masterclasses or seminars yet.

Renown Japanese luthier Masaki Sakurai will be giving a talk during the festival. Masaki Sakurai is arguable the best classical guitar luthier in Asia and one of the best in the world. I met him at his factory in Tokyo nearly 10 years ago. He speaks fluent English, so if you want to learn more about guitar making from this great maestro, here’s your chance.
I’m especially interested in attending the concerts by Kaori Muraji and Dale Kavanagh. I’ll try to attend as many concerts and masterclasses as my schedule allows. I hope to see you there!
In the meantime, here’s some videos of Kaori Muraji and Dale Kavanagh.
UPDATE:
Dale Kavanagh has cancelled and will not be attending the festival. More info here.

@Dedrick
Thanks for the post! I hope this will be more grand than 2008’s
Will schedule on this period to catch up with a few concerts!
Cheers!

I only wish I could put up more details and information. I tried e-mailing Thomas about the possibility of me conducting some pre-festival interviews with the artistes via e-mail, but he did not seem interested in going through the trouble ( even though it would have just required him to give me the contact details of the visiting artistes).
Such a pity. I would have liked to give the event and the artistes more publicity on my website.
