Nearly 2 years ago, I asked up-and-coming luthier Kris Barnett to make me a classical guitar.
I wanted a little treat to coincide with my graduation.
Well, my graduation is nearly upon me, and so is my classical guitar from Kris Barnett! These are the images he sent me of my guitar.
The tuners I wanted weren’t available, so he’s waiting for stocks to arrive before he installs them and ships the guitar to me.
After 2 years of studying, teaching, consulting on adverting work and studying Japanese, it’s nice to have a little treat to look forward to. More pictures after the break!
For the last 2 years I have been using my Asturias Standard to teach and my Michael Menkevich as my private, primary instrument.
The Menkevich is an excellent traditionally built instrument.
But as is the case with any artist, my tastes have been evolving. Kris builds as extremely modern instrument. It is lattice braced with an arched braceless back, a raised fingerboard and an armrest (not pictured here).
The neck has also been built to my specifications, so I’m looking forward to taking it for a test drive.
With any luck, the guitar will be here in another 2 weeks, and my students will be able to hear the evolution of my sound.
