Death needs to work on its image. Seriously.
In many cultural personifications of death, death is portrayed in ‘scarier-than-holy-hell’ ways. There’s the traditional Westernized being known as the Grim Reaper. Then there’s that absurdly comically, but freakishly alarming tag team duo of马面(Ma Mian) and牛头(Niu Tou).
Ma Mian and Niu Tou literally translate into “Horse Face” and “Cow Head”. A little obvious don’t you think?
But then again I suppose Britney and Cindi would be odd monikers for the guardians of hell.
I can imagine meeting them now.
“Wow! It’s Michael Jackson! Why the long face buddy?” – NinjaMasterX
“I’m Ma Mian you jackass.” – Ma Mian
“Whoops… Guess that makes you Niu Tuo right?” – NinjaMaster X
“Mmmhmm.”- Niu Tou
“I knew it was a bad idea eating that Whopper…”-NinjaMaster X
I imagine meeting the grim reaper would be a more straight forward affair.
“Mommy, why is there a cloaked skeleton in my room carrying a giant sickle?”
When death comes for me, I know how I want it to look like.
